Crafting engagement rings and wedding bands have become on of the most sought after job that craftsmen love when making jewelry. The steps shown in this post showcases many different ways to make men's wedding bands & women's engagement rings, at different skill levels.

Before you start learning to craft engagement rings, eternity bands or just simple silicone bands, you will have to acquire the right amount of materials and the necessary equipment and then follow a series of steps. You have to also take in account that if you don't have the right tools, you will have to borrow or rent a work or craft space. For a total beginner, the hours spent on a jewelry will take longer compared to a professional craftsman. So be sure to take your time and learn how to craft a ring correctly.


Here is a list of materials and tools you will need in order to start crafting your rings:

  • First, you will need a ring sizer, if you already don't own one. If not, simply use a printable ring sizer and a ring sizer chart for men and women

  • Mm ruler for measuring the length of the metal you need to cut

  • Paper for sketching the ring or band

  • Scissors & circular saw cutting different materials

  • Marker or pencil to draw lines, circle and points

  • Alloy/metal/diamond from which you will craft you ring

  • Leather and metal mallets

  • Rest of the tools/equipment you will find in a work or craft space


Besides the required materials and tools, in order to create a band or ring, you have to follow 9 simple/hard steps depending on your experience:

  1. Use A Ring Sizer Chart For Measurements

  2. Cut The Correct Size Of Alloy

  3. Smooth Down The Edges

  4. Give The Alloy The Form Of A Band

  5. Bind The Ring For Pressure

  6. Solder The Two Ends

  7. Pickle Thoroughly

  8. Finish the Ring

  9. Success, You're Done!
